Mahakumbh...

The whole day yesterday the news channels read a news and it was about the crowd gathering at the Sangam in Allahbad for a holy dip. I was just wondering how in this IT yuga people in such huge numbers have faith and do such dip to get Moksh. It is according to the Hindu calender that the Mahakumbh comes once in every 12 years and during this time lakhs of devotees plunge into the sangam to take bath and to get rid of all Sins & get moksh. Its is said that a dip into the sangam will make you free of all sins and confirm moksh for you. And on this belief not only the saits of different akhadas but also the common man leave all worries aside and take a dip. It was really amazing to see the akhadas coming in processions in different attires with horses, Raths, with display of arm and ammunition and finally taking a dip at the sangam. The Nagas, nirmohi and juna akhadas are few to name the popular attractions. Its reported that on the first day of the 10 day long Mahakumbh approximately 82 lakhs of devotes have taken dip in the Mahakumbh. Many has named this as the world's biggest festival and religious occasion. With huge arrangements for security and media persons the local govt is wishing all devotes a happy Makar sankranti.
Now when the scientists have ruled out that the water is dangerous for even mouth-washing people expect it to make them free of all sins. It may be looking funny to many but its the age-old belief that is still bringing cores of people for this Kumbh dip. My question would be how to maintain our river banks and the water appropriate for all these holy baths and out of pollution. The water in the Ganga in rishikesh is not usable for drinking and the jamuna in Delhi too is not usable and then how we can use it in Allahbad. There is a committee for the up-liftment of the Ganges and so as for other important rivers too , but where is the action on this. Its time too late for us to take any action on maintaining the purity of the rivers. May we not take care of the concerns now time may come that on a kumbh of such occasion we may not have water but instead it will be garbage to dip in.

May Mahakaal give strength to the belief of taking dip in to sangams and to maintain the purity of the holy rivers too.

Ek ghadi ki kahani...

Odia , Odisha & its people.

After years I tried my hands in writing a letter in Odia and believe me it was difficult to write as the finger movement needed much to work on the paper to write the fonts. For your knowledge i should tell you that unlike English the letters in oriya are much complicated and need a better effort to write a good hand-writing. But let me tell you it was really tough to get something on paper, forget about the handwriting. But one thing is for sure my fingers remembered the letters so correctly that i was surprised at times when i wrote conjoint letters. It took me 20-30 minutes to write a full page letter expressing my thought at that time. I managed to get an average handwriting & one can only manage to read & understand what I wrote.

I remember my School Days when I used to speak , read & write in Odia only and read English as a subject in the class. When somebody spoke good English then, people used to admire him with great respect &considered English as a better lang…

The epic story behind Lord Jagannath...

The epic story behind the the origin of Lord Jagannath goes back to ancient days when present day Lord Jagannath was being worshiped as Nila Madhava by a tribal head called Biswabasu. The name Nilamadhaba comes from the mountain that is always covered by the dense forest making it tougher for anyone to reach. The story goes, in the state of Malwa there was a king called Indradyumna who was an ardent devotee of lord Vishnu. His utter devotion landed him to see Lod Vishnu in his manly eyes and he in his prayers pleaded the lord to give him Darhan. After long in a divine dream he was told that Lord Vishnu can be seen in his best form in the state of then Utkala. The king then send Vidyapati to find & submit a report on Lord Vishnu. Bidyapati, after a very secret research got to know about Biswabasu & the lord Nilamadhaba , but upon request he denied to show him the way to Nilamadhaba. Failing to get the way to Nilamadhaba by hook or crook Bidyapari Decided to stay there and by pla…
